"America, as we now realize, is a treasure house of records of man's achievement upon the high seas in bygone ages." (p. 5)

The Celts called it "Iargalan, 'Land Beyond the Sunset'" (pg. 6)

Barry Fell started his work where "apart from an early interest in ancient languages . . .  as a marine biologist led me to investigate ancient Libyan inscriptions found on remote islands in the Pacific, for these seemed likely to throw light on how man's dispersal across the earth may be influenced by winds and ocean currents." (p. 12)

Below is chart Mr. Fell drew showing where each American Indian Language seems to be derived based on root words and dialects.

"The Libyans were the ancient world's most brillant navigators and explorers." (p.9)

Among the Pima peoples "The existence of the ancient Semitic Creation Chant in America has not been noticed before.  The excerpts published here are therefore the first published evidence of yet another aspect of the continuity of Amerindian culture with that of the Mediterranean." (underlining added p. 173)

Mr. Fell said "I for my part, though a marine biologist, have spent much of my life studying the ancient voyages of peoples who left inscriptions on remote islands which, of course, could only have been approached by sea.  As a marine biologist I felt obliged to examine this evidence, for it would have a bearing on how the dispersal of man, plants, and animals might be influenced by ocean currents and winds." (p. 19)

"Coordination of different disciplines is a feature of successful fieldwork." (p. 25)

HOW IRISH OGAM WAS DECIPHERED CHPT. 3

This book is focused on the "importance of the Celtic role in history or in the colonization of America in ancient times it is perhaps because I was better equipped to recognized faint trails if their scent was Celtic.   Others perhaps, may be more successful in smelling out other ancient voyagers, guided by signs that I never learned to notice.  So without further excuses I return to Irish themes . . . " (p. 27)

"In his recent lecture series and book Civilisation Lord Kenneth Clark has depicted the monks of Ireland in the dark ages as the repository of learning while Europe lay shattered by the barbarian invaders . . . For four centuries they alone preserved the learning of the ancients . . . one such volume known to us as the Book of Ballymote.  The last manuscript . . . .is the Ogam Tract." (p. 28)

"According to the  great Oxford English Dictionary, the word was originally spelled archaiology, . . . in 1607.   . . . As late as 1879 the word was still defined (in the Encyclopedia Dictionary) as "The science which treats of antiquity, which it investigates by studying oral traditions, monuments of all kinds, and written manuscripts." " (p. 30)

Regarding the "mysterious origin of the Celtic Ogam alphabet . . . there in the capital of Ireland are some ancient bilingual manuscripts . . .the name of this land is given as Iarghal, which means Beyond-the-Sunset. . ."(p. 45)

Alphabets Galore Chpt. 5

"Abideal Gu-leor "alphabets to repletion," as the Gaelic has it, incidentally giving the English language one of the very few adjectives that must follow the noun, in the Celtic manner: alphabets for every occasion, for foreign embassy or secret conspiracy, they are all here, so the scribes of old inform us in the ancient books of Ireland." (p.50)

Here is a big surprise for SC Students who have heard A-R-N-o-ld Murray means EAGLE teacher in Hebrew (we assumed).   This is not so!  Don't despair though, on pg. 51 of America B.C.  we have three examples of A-R-N found on the "Susquehanna (Pennsylvania) gravestones", spelling in the vowelless manner of ancient Iberian scribes the Name ARaNo (Eagle) in the Basque Language.

As far as I can understand it "Punic" is basically what we call Paleo Hebrew, and I'm not totally sure but the Basque language might actually come from Hebrew.

Another interesting note is that example numbered "2" to the left is A-R-N, but the "R" SHOULD be facing LEFT!   This is exactly like the Bat Creek Stone Where the Resh (R) is facing right.   Pastor says in that documentary that the R is facing right because R is related to A-R-A or LION in Hebrew, strongs number 690, and in this verse the LION faces Right:

Ezekiel 1:10
As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

So now we have A-R-N-o the Eagle teacher facing the RIGHT, to the True Yashua.

Very interesting indeed!

This is the Ogam alphabet defined by Mr. Fell.  He says, "Iberian and American Ogam has fewer consonants, and omits the vowels.   This is the oldest style, not found in Britain." (Pg. 48)

Something that should be considered for reading ogam is that the "stem line can rotate into various positions.  In the Ogam Tract oblique angles are also acceptable for the stem-line." (p. 74)

"The ancient scribes made use of this rule  to contrive word pictures in rebus form . . . nearly ALL ancient writing systems make use of this device, for two reasons.   For one thing, if you can distort letters of the alphabet just a little . . . you can sometimes make a word look like the object it refers to.

An example of this is seen in the inscription found on many of the astromical observation pillars of the New England Celts.   What looks at first sight to be a human EYE is seen on closer examination to be made up of Ogam letters spelling the words "observation pillar". "(p. 62)

Page 144 shows various "Eye" Observation stones.  It might be what is shown on p. 295 or line labelled (g) on page 298.

Throughout the book Mr. Fell examines many astronomical observatories that " . . . had a definite relationship to important astronomical axes." (p. 204)

"The Celts of New England, however, retained the old Celto-Greek New Year that began on the day of the spring equinox . . . " (p. 200)   So, in that vein, he found many stones circles in New England and across America.   This revealed a knowledge of the stars by navigation, knowledge of wind & weather, surface of the earth mapping, circumference of the earth.   This kind of knowledge must be amassed through a school, in the least.   People today don't acquire this knowledge even if they are educated.   Put an average American in the middle of the ocean on a ship, and it certainly would be a death sentence.

This leads us to believe that these early explorers were highly educated and organized to train mariners in astronomy, religion, & navigation.  That is the remnants of civilization we are finding here in America.

"Which leads to the natural conclusion, "We therefore must draw the final conclusion that Druids were once active in New England.  They were still  practicing their astronomical craft in the time of Julius Caesar, whose reformed calendar they adopted in part, and with it the use of Roman numerals, but they retained the Celtic habit of beginning the new year on the day of the spring equinox." (p. 218)

An amusing quote, for those of you who have read through this far!  "In her new role the Celtic woman came to exercise power over the men so great that the Romans, in order to quell the martial spirit of the Britions, were compelled to kill the women instead of enslaving them." (p.235)

Fell also explores the presence of the Egyptians in the New World.   The Amerindian writing called Micmac is basically hieroglyphics.  "The Davenport Calendar Stele found in a burial mound in IOWA in 1874 by the Reverend M. Gass, together with numerous other artifacts of North African an Iberian origin or relationship.  The inscription is written in THREE languages, EGYPTIAN HIEROGLYPHS at the top, then Iberan-Punic from right to left along the upper arc, and Libyan from right to left along the lower arc.  The Libyan and Iberian-Punic inscriptions say the SAME THING, namely that the upper hieroglyphs contain the SECRET of how to regulate the calendar." (p. 261)

"The Tifinag alphabet, shown here, occurs in Bronze Age NORSE petroglyphs where it is used to render Old Norse words, omitting most of the vowels.  A related form of Tifinag is used to this day by some Berber tribes in North Africa. . . . In 1954 Canadian field geoligsts discovered a richly varied petroglyph site near Peterborough, Ontario, in which are featured ancient SHIPS resembling those of Scandinavian sites, interspersed with human and animal figures, with numerous Tifinag letters between the pictoral elements." (p. 306)

" . . . they are written in archaic NORSE . . .  a suggested date of the inscriptions was given of about 1700 BC" (p. 311)

Fell closes the book with an epilogue (1989) of some extensive Ogam writing done in West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Horse Creek (in WV I think).  The West Virginia Petroglyph is probably the most well known and covered in the March 1983 Wonderful West Virginia.
